General Overview:
for the therapist who wants
to be a really good one.
This hybrid instructive/interactive session is designed to assist learners in providing exemplary clinical practice, within the most challenging treatment scenarios.
The session is broken into 2 sections. Learners may opt to attend just the half day section 1, or stay on for session 2 and enjoy the more intensive full day experience.*
Section 1 warms up with a hearty continental breakfast and beverage bar, then moves into definitions and deconstruction of the most challenging clinical scenarios in the psychotherapy setting.
Using de-identified clinical vignettes and case examples, audience engagement exercises, and theoretical/diagnostic frameworks, this session will promote increased knowledge, insight, and self-awareness re the application of the tools, tactics, and interventions discussed in the session.
The goal is for you to leave the session feeling more confident and competent in carrying out best practice psychotherapy standards in your clinical work.
Section 2: Learners who opt to stay for section 2 will start the second half of the day with a delicious lunch spread, then transition to deeper investigation, and learners' personal connections made to the intricacies and nuances of concepts presented in section 1.
Section 2 learners are afforded an opportunity for more organic discussion surrounding their own clinical cases and/or topical challenges. Learners who wish to discuss their specific clinical challenges for feedback and support are welcomed and encouraged to do so in this facilitator-structured format. Alternatively, learners may opt to just listen and learn by osmosis amidst this robust collegial conversation, which will be equally enriching.
Educational Contact Hours
HALF DAY EVENT: 3 CE contact hours.
FULL DAY EVENT: 7 CE contact hours.
Continuing Education Parameters:
Drawing from psychological theory, evidence-based practice, and practice-based evidence, we will conduct an in-depth exploration of psychotherapy concepts, and the application of their respective interventions and tactics.
Perhaps training concepts addressed in this session could be considered basic, foundational, and possibly even elementary in nature. and yet, these key principles remain pervasively underutilized and likely "under-understood" in the direct practice domain.
When the conceptual aspects of psychotherapy practice are not adequately addressed, nor presented within a tangible, accessible, tactical framework, we are at far greater risk of relinquishing some of our most valuable and powerful tools as practitioners...often without our even knowing it.
Taking the basics and/or the redundancies, and learning how to elevate them into more sophisticated clinical applications, better equips and inspires new providers, and reinvigorates seasoned professionals.
Course Objectives:
✓ Decrease provider disorientation/disillusionment in working with challenging clinical cases✓ Apply theoretical framework to deconstruct and overcome practitioner perceived “roadblocks” to professional
efficacy.
✓ Increase provider confidence in working through complex intersubjective dynamics with clientele.
✓ Leverage trauma-informed principles and approaches to increase provider agility in attending to varying
agendas that can feel incongruous (i.e., setting firm limits, healthy boundaries, and incentivizing difficult
clinical growth, while maintaining authentic unconditional high regard and a strong therapeutic bond
with psychologically/emotionally fragile clientele.)Educational Mission:
Our organizational culture and training environment is intimate, comfortable, collegial, and emotionally safe.
Our personal mission for our learners is:
1) To receive high quality continuing education for obvious pragmatic reasons i.e. access to obtaining required CE Credits, professional development, our contribution and connection to the field of mental health, etc.
2) But above all, we are passionate about joining our fellow practitioners in rejuvenation of psyche and spirit, reconnection to professional purpose and connection to community, and increased/deeper sense of personal efficacy.
